Why I Love Jill

I had to work last weekend, which is really unusual for me. I was asked to judge presentations by high school students at the state Envirothon competition. So, nothing too brain-taxing, but it was still time away from my family, and I was a tiny bit bitter.

On a whim I called up my friend, Jill, and asked her if she’d like to volunteer too and come with me. Luckily, she said, “sure!”

This is why I love Jill. She’s always game. She’s always up for anything – including driving 3 hours to Ponca State Park to listen to high school students drone on about biodiversity. Jill has a PhD in Latin American Indigenous studies, or something like that, so biodiversity isn’t her forte. But, she still said, “sure!”

As usual, Jill and I had a blast. That’s the other reason why I love Jill. She’s fun. I never laugh more than when we are together. It was a great trip, and a great memory.

I hope she had as much fun as me so I can sucker her into coming again next year!
